Cognition, the company behind the autonomous software engineer Devin, is using GPT-6 Astra to improve its code review process. As engineering teams write more code, manual review has become increasingly challenging. Walden Yan, Co-founder of Cognition, highlights that Astra’s ability to test and prove its work is a major improvement.

Cognition is applying Astra across its product lineup, including the core cloud agent Devin, along with its CLI and desktop products. In one example, Devin uses Astra to test Otter Run, an iPhone game, returning a simulator recording and a report showing passed checks and untested areas. Engineers can inspect the application’s behavior and identify remaining gaps.

Astra is also helping Cognition respond to customer bug reports faster. When a customer sends a screenshot of an issue, the team passes it to Devin using Astra, which fixes the bug and returns a screenshot of the result. Walden Yan notes that stronger automated testing could reduce manual code inspection, allowing the company to ship more efficiently over time.
