Lofi Cities is a free web app pairing animated pixel-art city nights with endless lo-fi music generated live in the browser. Users pick a city and let it run; every scene is a 480x270 pixel animation looping seamlessly every four minutes, featuring unique weather, landmarks, and city sounds. The app requires no installation, account, or pop-ups and works across computers, phones, and tablets.

It serves as a calm background for studying, working, or winding down. Every city includes a billboard for rent with a made-up local ad until a business claims it. Recent updates include lighter performance on 120Hz screens, a "today" count starting at local midnight, and more reliable city switching during updates.

Cities featured range from Paris and Tokyo to New York, London, and Sydney, each with distinct visual and auditory themes. The music is synthesized in real-time using the Web Audio API, offering styles like jazzhop, piano, ambient, bossa, synth, house, guitar, sad, and medieval. A Vibe panel controls style, mood, and instrument layering.

Track titles are inspired by the on-screen city, and a separate ambience layer mixes city sounds under the music. Volume sliders allow independent control of music and ambience, while an "Up next" list lets users select upcoming tracks.
