Apple's Persistent iOS 'Ads' Anger Users

iOS users are seeing 'ads' for other Apple products on their iPhones. The banners promote services like iCloud+, Apple Music, and AppleCare+. The messages often can't be dismissed and stick around for weeks.

If you were to ask iOS users how they felt about Apple's decision to insert ads into Apple Maps, it would quickly become obvious that it was not a popular move. So when iPhone fans discovered that Apple has been inserting prompts for its own products into iOS, the reaction was predictably swift and furious.

The 'ads' appear in the Settings app near the top of the display, promoting paid iCloud+ storage, free trials for Apple Music and Apple TV, and AppleCare+. The only way to disable these promos is to let them expire—which can take weeks or months—or pay for the service. There is not always a "dismiss" button, and when there is, some report it doesn't work.

Many have taken to social media to vent. "I wish Apple would just stop that crap," stated one user. Others compared it to Microsoft's Start menu ads. The discontent is widespread, with some ads appearing after purchasing a new Apple product, like the recent iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro range.

Apple's services push might seem strange for a premium company, but with limited smartphone growth, it's turning to services. Unfortunately for users, that means more ads.
