Chelsea have agreed a record £117m deal with Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers, beating Arsenal to the forward's signature. The 23-year-old is set to sign a six-year contract with an option for a further year and will undergo a medical on Monday after returning from England's World Cup campaign.

The fee surpasses the £116m Manchester City paid for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer, making Rogers the most expensive British player. It also eclipses the £115m Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo in 2023, becoming the club's record signing. Rogers scored 14 goals and added 11 assists in 55 appearances for Villa last season, earning 21 England caps.

Middlesbrough stand to receive £20.3m from a 20% sell-on clause agreed when they sold Rogers to Villa for £16m in 2024. Boro originally signed him from Man City for £1.1m in 2023. The deal marks the seventh former City youth player to join Chelsea under co-director of recruitment Joe Shields.
