EuroLeague owners will meet Oct. 5 in Milan to decide their stance on the NBA's planned European league, set for 2027. CEO Chus Bueno warned that if no partnership is reached, EuroLeague will compete directly. He stressed the need for a mutually beneficial deal, noting that NBA can help operations while EuroLeague brings local brand value.

The NBA has received bids from over 20 groups for 12 target cities, with some offers exceeding $1 billion. Bueno said two leagues would fragment value commercially and in media rights. Olimpia Milano's Christo Stavropoulos, hosting the meeting, echoed that collaboration is ideal but not guaranteed.

The meeting may approve expanding EuroLeague to 24 teams with 21 permanent franchises for 2027-28, as a fallback if talks fail.
