Fusion Capital Partners has acquired Rockville, Maryland-based Pioneer Power Group, a provider of power system engineering and field services, for undisclosed terms. The deal is the fifth platform investment from Fusion’s Fund I and the Los Angeles-based firm’s second platform acquisition of 2026, following its purchase of AQUALIS earlier in the year. Pioneer helps organizations comply with OSHA, NFPA 70E and National Electrical Code requirements and keep their electrical infrastructure safe and reliable. The company says it has one of the largest independent teams of dedicated power system study engineers in the country. It also provides on-site data collection, inspection, testing and maintenance. Pioneer serves the data center, education, healthcare, industrial and manufacturing and commercial sectors through a national network of electrical distributors and engineering firms.

“The importance of electrical infrastructure continues to rise, driven by aging assets and increased regulation,” said Winston Dumont-Aubrey, senior associate at Fusion. Pioneer will continue to operate from its Pittsburgh and Washington, DC locations under its current management team. Fusion makes control-oriented investments in lower middle-market industrial companies. In 2025, it acquired Excel Engineering, a testing services provider for engines, power generation and battery systems; Relevant Solutions, an industrial equipment provider focused on flow control applications; and Tavoron, a factory automation business. Paul Hastings served as legal counsel and AEC Advisors and Black Arch Partners as financial advisers to Fusion, which was also represented by Jefferies Private Fund Advisory. Holland & Knight served as legal counsel to Pioneer, and Founders Advisors served as financial adviser. Editor’s note: This news brief was produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
