According to a new report from Korea, Qualcomm is in talks with Samsung to join TSMC in manufacturing the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. While prior rumors suggested TSMC would be the sole foundry, Qualcomm is exploring a dual-source setup. Samsung's 2nm yields have improved, reaching around 55%, though they remain below TSMC's 60-70% range.

Qualcomm reportedly requires a minimum of 70% yield for large-scale manufacturing. Furthermore, Qualcomm may seek Samsung as a backup due to TSMC's capacity constraints; Apple has claimed over half of TSMC's projected 60,000 monthly 2nm wafers. Discussions are ongoing regarding specifications, pricing, and process optimization, though the production share allocation remains unclear.

Qualcomm is expected to announce the chips later this month.
