Apple ends Intel Mac support in macOS Tahoe

Apple has told developers they no longer need to support Intel Macs, confirming that Intel-only apps won't run after macOS 27. The upcoming macOS Tahoe is the last version for Intel-based Macs, marking the end of a transition that began in 2020. Apple's updated support document and email to developers outline a three-stage phase-out: starting with macOS 26.4, users will see alerts about app updates; in macOS 27, Intel-only apps will still run; and by macOS 28, they won't launch at all.

This pushes developers to update their apps for Apple Silicon only. The Mac Pro was the last model to switch from Intel to Apple Silicon in 2023, and now the software support is ending too.
