Apple today confirmed at its “Surprise and Shine” event that iOS 27 will be released on Monday, September 14. The new operating system, first unveiled at WWDC26, has been in developer and public beta testing. It will be available as a free software update for compatible iPhones.

The headlining feature is the new Siri AI, an AI-powered assistant developed with Google’s Gemini models. Siri AI can be invoked from the Dynamic Island on the Home Screen. iOS 27 also introduces adjustments to the Liquid Glass look, including a transparency slider, and performance improvements for app launches, Photos, Camera, AirDrop, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular transitions. Compatibility includes iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and older models that support iOS 26.
