Watford overturned an early deficit to defeat Preston 2-1 at Vicarage Road. Callum Lang opened the scoring for Preston in the sixth minute, but the Hornets struggled in the first half. Alessio Dionisi made three halftime substitutions, introducing Edo Kayembe and Mamadou Doumbia.

Kayembe equalised in the 69th minute after a cross from Othmane Maamma. Doumbia then headed the winner seven minutes later from Bravo's cross. Preston dominated the opening period but wasted numerous chances, including a missed opportunity by Harry Clarke.

Despite injuries limiting substitutes, Watford's resilience secured a vital victory, condemning Preston to their fifth defeat in six league games.
