Celtic claimed their 14th Scottish Premiership title in 15 years with a dramatic 3-1 victory over Hearts on Saturday, denying the Edinburgh club its first league crown since 1960. A late Daizen Maeda goal sealed the win after Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland had put the visitors ahead early, only for Arne Engels to level from the penalty spot before halftime.

Hearts had led the title race since September, putting them on course to become the first club outside Celtic and Rangers to win the Scottish top flight since Sir Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen in 1985. But Celtic boss Martin O'Neill masterminded a second-half comeback that kept the Old Firm's stranglehold intact. Hearts needed only a draw at Celtic Park to clinch the title, but a succession of missed chances left them vulnerable.

Callum Osmand's low cross found Maeda for a header that was initially ruled offside before a VAR check confirmed Osmand was onside. Osmand then ran most of the pitch unopposed to score the third with the last kick. Hundreds of Celtic supporters stormed the pitch as Hearts players were escorted down the tunnel. The result confirmed Celtic's 14th title in 15 years and extended their dominance over Scottish football.
