Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Tommy Rees faced a unique challenge coaching two left-handed quarterbacks, Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa. Only 33 left-handed quarterbacks have ever appeared in the NFL, with just two—Steve Young and Ken Stabler—in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Coaches often struggle with lefty QBs due to play diagrams designed for right-handed throwers.

The Falcons adapted by flipping plays and adjusting footwork instruction. Penix is set to start Thursday against the Green Bay Packers. Since 1991, only two teams have started more than one left-handed quarterback in a season: the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1997 and the Cincinnati Bengals in 1991.
