Two weeks after capturing her first major at the Women's PGA Championship, Ryu moved to 18-under 194 — another major championship record — and opened a three-shot lead over Japan's Aki Iwai (65).

Brooke Henderson (64) and Mao Saigo (67) sit seven strokes back, while overnight leader Lottie Woad of England collapsed to a 72 and fell nine shots off the pace in a tie for sixth. The scoring barrage underscores how soft the Evian Resort layout played under ideal conditions, yet Ryu's precision — 13 of 14 fairways, 16 of 18 greens — separated her from a chasing pack that also went low.

Only four men have broken 63 in major history, each posting 62: Branden Grace at Royal Birkdale (2017 Open), Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler at Los Angeles Country Club (2023 U.S. Open), and Schauffele again with Shane Lowry at Valhalla (2024 PGA). Ryu's 60 stands alone atop the women's game.

If Ryu closes Sunday, she becomes the first player since Inbee Park in 2013 to win consecutive majors, and the first Korean to achieve the feat.
