Conference Races & Controversy

The Avalanche find themselves at the center of two major storylines following their 4-3 loss to the Oilers. Colorado sharply disputed ejection of star Nathan Mac Kinnon for goalie interference, a penalty that fueled debate about officiating in high-stakes games. This loss complicates the narrative from the trade deadline, where pundits questioned if Western Conference contenders like Colorado properly addressed their needs, even as Eastern powers such as Boston fortified their rosters amid overreactions.

Eastern Dominance

In the East, the Bruins extended their remarkable home dominance with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Kings. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy scored OT winner just 39 seconds into the extra period, securing Boston's 13th consecutive home win before rushing off for more dental work after losing teeth—a testament to the physical toll of their playoff push.
