An indie developer, Vidit Bhargava, has created Duo-Man, a virtual Walkman app for Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo. The app uses the foldable’s hinge to simulate opening a cassette player, letting users “insert” a cassette on the 7.6-inch inner display before snapping it shut to begin playback. Built in BitRig’s new iPhone Duo development environment, the app includes authentic sound effects—Bhargava recorded button clicks and static from a real Walkman.

Duo-Man earned second place at the Bitrig hackathon in San Francisco and his X post has over 2.1 million views. The app will support Apple Music, local files, and an Apple Pencil feature for rolling the cassette loop. Spotify support may follow.

No release date is set, but the iPhone Duo pre-orders start October 16, with availability on October 23.
