Apple has published a detailed privacy explainer for Siri Recap, a new Audio Intelligence feature on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 that listens to conversations throughout the day to generate summaries. The feature requires an iPhone 16 or later (excluding the 16e) and launches later this year.

Apple emphasizes that no audio is recorded or stored; processing occurs in the Secure Enclave on device. Encrypted, condensed text versions—less than half the original length—are sent to Private Cloud Compute for summarization using Apple Foundation Models. Data remains inaccessible to Apple. Siri Recap does not attribute speakers, omits sensitive data like financial info and government IDs, and produces summaries rather than full transcripts. Summaries auto-delete after seven days unless saved to the Siri app, where they are end-to-end encrypted via iCloud.

The feature is opt-in with scheduling options and a Control Center toggle. Apple warns summaries may be incomplete or inaccurate and advises users to be mindful of those nearby during private conversations.
