Lyft Offers Waymo Rides in Nashville

Lyft now offers rides from fully driverless Waymo cars in Nashville through its app, marking the first market where Waymo vehicles are available on both Lyft and Waymo’s own application. Users can be matched with a Waymo vehicle when requesting Standard, Priority Pickup, Wait & Save, or Extra Comfort rides. However, routes must start and end within Waymo’s coverage area in central Nashville to be eligible.

The service area includes Downtown/Broadway, North Nashville/Germantown, East Nashville, Midtown, and South Nashville. Waymo rides come at no extra cost, and users can opt out entirely or decline a specific ride if they prefer not to use a driverless car. Lyft states availability will grow across the city in the coming weeks.

The partnership was first announced in September of last year, with Waymo testing vehicles in Nashville since then. Permission to operate without a human driver was secured in February of this year.
