iOS 27 introduces flexible location sharing in the Find My app, replacing the previous rigid options of one hour, one day, or indefinite sharing. Users can now select Custom to set precise timeframes using rolling dials for days (up to 30), hours (1 to 23), and minutes (1 to 59), or pick a specific end date and time. The minimum sharing duration is 15 minutes, allowing combinations like 1.5 hours or one day, three hours, and five minutes. This helps travelers avoid daily resets on vacation or forgetting to disable indefinite sharing after a trip. Once the set time elapses, the recipient can no longer see the sharer's location.

Another new feature lets users temporarily hide their location from someone they share with indefinitely, such as a spouse or child. Tapping Hide Location pauses sharing without notifying the other person; they simply see that the location is unavailable. This is useful for surprise gifts, visits, or parties. Pausing is more convenient than removing and re-adding sharing settings later.

These features are available now via the iOS 27 public beta, though users should expect potential bugs and back up their iPhone before installing.
