Sonos speakers are now easier to set up via the S2 app after the company resolved its notoriously buggy 2024 update. To begin, download the Sonos app from the App Store or Google Play, create an account, and ensure your smartphone and speaker are on the same Wi-Fi network. Open the app, select "Start a new Sonos system," then "Add your speaker." The app will detect your hardware—whether an older Sonos One or a new Sonos Era 300—and guide you through Wi-Fi connection and room assignment. Adding additional speakers is done via Settings > Add Speaker or Component. Note that surround sound setups typically require matching speaker models, such as a pair of Sonos Era 100s.

If the app fails to connect, check for network issues: verify both devices are on the same network (not a guest network), ensure the router password hasn't changed recently, and disable any VPNs. Apple users must grant the app local network permissions on iPhone or iPad. Regular software updates prevent future issues. For persistent "No products found" errors, reboot the speaker by unplugging it for ten seconds, then wait a minute before retrying. As a last resort, perform a hardware reset, which erases saved EQ and Trueplay settings.
