iPhone Duo features two displays and enhanced multitasking capabilities, but users should not expect to play two videos simultaneously. Similar to existing limitations on iPhone and iPad devices, system-level audio routing prevents concurrent video playback, even with dual screens or picture-in-picture modes.

This restriction mirrors the common frustration experienced when scrolling social media apps while listening to music, where the secondary app interrupts audio playback. Despite the hardware offering two distinct displays, pairing two sets of AirPods to play separate videos on each screen is not supported.

However, iPhone Duo introduces new multitasking features, including a split-view mode that allows users to pin a video from apps like Apple TV to the top of the screen while keeping another app active below. If the second app begins playing video, the top video automatically pauses. These limitations stem from the device running iOS, maintaining consistency with other iPhone models.

The iPhone Duo will be available for pre-order on October 16 and ships on October 23.
