Slow Horses returns next week to Apple TV, and early reviews say season 6 is “the best one yet.” Jackson Lamb and his motley Slough House crew are back next week, ready for more comedy-infused espionage antics. Slow Horses season 6 premieres Wednesday, September 16 with one episode, followed by weekly releases through October 21.

Behind the scenes, season 6 brings several notable changes: a new showrunner and lead writer, and the season is based on two Mick Herron books rather than one. But early signs point to these changes proving beneficial to the show. Reviews dropped today, and Awards Buzz says Slow Horses’ new season is its “best one yet.” Similar sentiments are expressed by several other reviews.

Decider calls season 6 “another remarkable, larger-than-life feat for the small screen that proves the brilliant thriller is at the top of its strange, strange game.” Comic Book Club notes “nearly every episode has a wild twist, huge cliffhanger, big character death/return, and sometimes all three.” Next Best Picture adds that Slow Horses “shows no signs of slowing down, even amid a creative shakeup.”

Slow Horses is one of Apple’s most acclaimed shows, and the only one that manages to release a new season every single year. That streak likely won’t let up any time soon either, as Apple continues to work ahead on future seasons.
