Apple Designing iPhone Game Controllers, Possibly Beats Branded

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has corroborated references in macOS beta code indicating Apple is designing its own game controllers for iPhone. The code reveals two controllers with model identifiers T6502 and T1057, featuring D-Pad, thumbsticks, haptic motors, and potentially integrated accelerometer and gyroscope for motion controls. Apple already sells third-party controllers like the Backbone One and SteelSeries Nimbus+ through the Apple Store but now aims to enter the iPhone gamepad market directly.

Gurman suggests the controllers may be released under the Beats brand, overseen by Beats executives, targeting lower price points with more affordable materials. The accessories could enhance gaming on iPhone, Mac, and Apple TV 4K, supporting AAA titles on iOS and macOS. Users can already connect MFI-compatible and traditional console controllers like PlayStation DualShock and Xbox Wireless Controller to Apple devices.
