Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara is establishing a presence in Hong Kong to expand its international investment activities. The fund has registered holding and finance subsidiaries in the Chinese city, with incorporation finalized on March 23. Danantara is actively hiring investment professionals for the new Hong Kong team.

Hong Kong-based executive Sisi Liu leads Greater China and North Asia investments, focusing on artificial intelligence, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. The move aligns with the fund's strategy to diversify allocations domestically and abroad. Founded in 2025, Danantara oversees hundreds of state-owned enterprises and manages assets valued at approximately $900 billion.

Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir indicated the fund is preparing its first allocations to hedge fund managers later this year. Additionally, Danantara has committed $1 billion to Swiss asset manager Partners Group for a private credit mandate and $2.5 billion to a joint venture holding the Australia and New Zealand operations of JBS NV.
