Bristol City have appointed Roy Hodgson as interim head coach following the sacking of Gerhard Struber. The 77-year-old former England manager takes charge immediately after Struber's nine-month tenure ended abruptly. Struber, who signed a contract until 2028, had previously managed Barnsley, New York Red Bulls, and Red Bull Salzburg.

Struber's departure comes after Bristol City's disappointing form and his public criticism of the club's academy talent. The Austrian coach had also expressed frustration over the January sales of defender Tomas Kalas and midfielder Valeri Mehmeti. Struber replaced Liam Manning, who left to manage Norwich City after leading Bristol City to the play-offs.

Chief executive Charlie Boss emphasized that Hodgson's appointment is about more than the next seven games. The veteran coach will help establish standards and values as the club searches for a sporting director and permanent head coach. Hodgson, with extensive experience at the highest level including managing England and winning league titles in Sweden, brings stability during this transitional period for the Championship club.
