International Tournament Shakeup

The World Baseball Classic concluded with Venezuela defeating Japan 8-5 in the quarterfinals, a surprising outcome that has prompted immediate changes in the Japanese dugout. Following the elimination loss in Miami, national team manager Hirokazu Ibata announced his resignation, concluding his tenure after the shocking exit. Attention now shifts to the championship matchup, where betting markets show Venezuela narrowly favored over the USA in Tuesday's final, with predictions centering on pitching matchups and late-inning bullpen management.

Future Roster Construction

While international tournaments conclude, domestic focus turned toward long-term asset management, as evidenced by ESPN's final 2026 fantasy points mock draft. The results provided a round-by-round breakdown across ten simulated teams, giving managers an early look at projected roster construction and player value ahead of the actual season drafts, with several top prospects showing marked improvements in their projected draft slots compared to earlier projections.
