OXS Thunder Duo X Neck Speaker Review: $550 Dolby Atmos Desktop Audio

OXS enters the premium gaming audio market with the Thunder Duo X, a $550 desktop system that replaces traditional rear speakers with a wireless neckband speaker. The concept delivers genuine Dolby Atmos immersion without cable clutter, though the execution reveals significant trade-offs that complicate the value proposition.

The system decodes Dolby Atmos internally and pairs two main speakers with up-firing drivers for height channels against a wireless neck speaker handling rear surround duties. Connectivity spans HDMI 2.1 with 4K/120Hz passthrough, USB-C, optical and Bluetooth 5.3, powered by 130W total output across custom drivers. The neck speaker runs 12 hours and charges via USB-C.

However, OXS ships the Thunder Duo X as a complete 5.1.2 setup minus critical components: no subwoofer and no dedicated center channel. This omission forces compromises in bass response and vocal clarity during movie playback, despite the premium price tag. The RGB lighting and EQ presets add customization, but can't mask the fundamental hardware gaps.

For gamers seeking Atmos immersion without speaker stands, the Thunder Duo X works well enough. But the $550 cost demands a complete solution, making the missing subwoofer and center channel difficult to justify when compared to traditional speaker packages.
