MSI has finally entered the AMD X870 Mini-ITX market with its MPG X870I Edge Ti Evo Wi-Fi, a year after its Intel counterpart launched. The board distinguishes itself with three M.2 ports and four fan headers, giving it an edge over competitors like the ASUS ROG Strix X870-I Gaming Wi-Fi. At $399, it sits between ASUS's flagship and Gigabyte's more affordable X870I Aorus Pro Ice.

This release completes MSI's Mini-ITX lineup across all major chipsets, joining ASUS and Gigabyte in offering four enthusiast-class boards for compact builds. The X870I Edge Ti Evo Wi-Fi features enhanced power delivery with 8+2+1 phase design and upgraded Type-C front panel support for fast device charging. Storage options include two SATA ports plus three M.2 slots (one PCIe 5.0, two PCIe 4.0).

While the board offers impressive specs for its size, Mini-ITX builds always involve compromises. The competition remains fierce in this segment, with ASRock notably absent from the X870 Mini-ITX market. MSI's timing and feature set suggest they're targeting users who want maximum storage and cooling flexibility in a compact form factor, though whether the premium over Gigabyte's offering justifies the upgrade depends on specific build requirements.
