Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword is one of the more anticipated games of 2026, with an early 2025 gameplay preview showing off high fidelity graphics and fast-paced melee combat. Despite this, the action game has surprisingly forgiving minimum hardware requirements, calling for just an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB for 1080p, 30 FPS gameplay on low settings.

Ahead of the September 25 launch, Capcom has published a demo and benchmark tool, which Steam Deck HQ tested on the Valve Steam Deck, showcasing the well-optimized RE Engine. At native 1200×800 resolution with FSR 3.1.4, the "Lowest" preset averaged 46.16 FPS with 20.53 FPS 1% lows.

The "Low" preset dropped to 36.28 FPS average and 15.6 FPS 1% lows. During demanding combat scenes, frame rates dipped below 30 FPS even on "Lowest," but recovered quickly. Future game and driver updates may improve performance further.

Performance mirrors Resident Evil Requiem on Steam Deck, suggesting Onimusha: Way of the Sword should earn the same "Playable" rating.
