Seagate Technology has unveiled its next-generation Mozaic 4+ platform, the industry's only heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR)-based storage solution deployed at scale. The platform now supports capacities up to 44 TB and has achieved production qualification with two leading hyperscale cloud providers. This milestone represents the first commercial deployment of HAMR technology at scale, marking a significant advancement in enterprise storage capabilities.

Built on years of nanophotonic engineering, the Mozaic 4+ platform incorporates a next-generation suspension architecture and enhanced system-on-a-chip for precise recording at higher densities. Seagate's vertically integrated laser technology enables better control over yield, reliability, and supply chain resilience. The platform's design allows continued capacity gains without requiring disruptive architectural shifts, positioning it as a sustainable solution for growing data demands.

For AI-driven workloads, the incremental increases in per-disk capacity delivered by Mozaic 4+ enable high-capacity, cost-efficient storage that scales without increasing infrastructure footprint or energy consumption. In a one-exabyte deployment, Mozaic improves infrastructure efficiency by approximately 47 percent compared to standard 30 TB deployments, reducing required data center footprint by about 100 square feet and lowering annual energy consumption by roughly 0.8 million kilowatt-hours. With a roadmap targeting 100 TB capacities, Seagate's HAMR-based solution addresses the exponential growth in data storage needs while maintaining enterprise-class reliability.
