RTX 5060 GB205 Die Found in ASUS Graphics Card

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5060 mid-range graphics card is officially based on the GB206 GPU die SKU, equipped with 3,840 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR7 memory. However, a review of the ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 5060 OC D7 8 GB revealed the GPU die inside is actually a GB205-200-KB-A1 SKU. This die is typically reserved for GeForce RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti Mobile, and RTX PRO 3000 "Blackwell" mobile graphics cards.

This discovery stems from NVIDIA's binning process, where lower-bin GPUs are repurposed as lower-tier designs. Instead of being used in an RTX 5070 where it would lack functional cores, the GB205 is cut down to RTX 5060 specifications. In testing, the GB205-based RTX 5060 performs similarly to the standard model, with some exceptions attributed to out-of-the-box overclocking applied to the ASUS variant.
