GOG has confirmed that its Galaxy launcher will be released as a native application for Linux. This move comes after months of promises to better support the Linux community. GOG co-CEO Krzysztof Papliński stated that Linux support is a priority and that a specialist has been hired to lead the project.

While a release date has not been provided, GOG acknowledges the significant engineering effort required to port all Galaxy storefront features while maintaining stability.

Currently, users can employ workarounds like Lutris, Heroic Games Launcher, or Valve's Proton compatibility layer to run the Windows version of GOG Galaxy on Linux. However, a native application is anticipated to offer a superior experience.
