Modders have successfully patched NVIDIA's leaked DLSS 5 tool to work on RTX 4000 series GPUs, despite official support being limited to RTX 5000 Blackwell hardware. The DLL leaked earlier this week via an early-access build of NBA 2K27, and enthusiasts on the RenoDX Discord quickly adapted it for other games using ReShade and RenoDX.

The AI model behind DLSS 5 runs on FP8, which Ada Lovelace GPUs support, but the compiled binaries initially targeted only Blackwell's sm_120 architecture. A modder known as "Uncle Burrito" fixed this by hunting down incompatible binaries and swapping in versions built for Ada. Tom's Hardware confirmed the patch works on an RTX 4080, and other developers in the Discord are creating their own fixes.

While the mod is functional, it's still early and rough around the edges. NVIDIA has not announced official support for older cards, but the rapid community effort may pressure the company to reconsider. Older cards like Ampere remain unsupported due to a lack of native FP8 support, making this a potential turning point for RTX 4000 owners.
