Dell's $130 240 Hz Gaming Monitors Shake Up Market

Dell has launched two surprisingly affordable 27-inch gaming monitors that buck the trend of rising PC component prices. The SE2726HG and SE2726HGS both feature 1080p IPS panels with 240 Hz refresh rates, making them attractive options for competitive gamers on a budget. The SE2726HG starts at just US$130, while the SE2726HGS with height-adjustable stand costs US$170.

Both monitors deliver 300 nits brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and cover 99 percent of the sRGB color gamut. The 5 ms response time can be reduced to 0.5 ms in extreme mode through menu settings. AMD FreeSync Premium support helps eliminate screen tearing during gameplay. Connectivity options include two HDMI ports with VRR support and a single DisplayPort 1.4 input.

While the 1080p resolution may disappoint users seeking higher pixel density for productivity work, these monitors target the esports crowd who prioritize refresh rate over resolution. The power-efficient design draws just 19.7 W normally and peaks at 40 W. Dell's aggressive pricing could pressure competitors to offer similar value propositions in the budget gaming monitor segment.
