Dead by Daylight, the co-op survival horror game from Behaviour Interactive, will switch from Easy Anti-Cheat to Denuvo Anti-Cheat on September 2 as part of an Anti-Cheat Trial following a community survey. Players indicated the studio "could be doing more" to curb cheating, prompting the temporary change to test alternative solutions. The game currently uses Easy Anti-Cheat with Linux compatibility mode enabled, but the Steam version will require Denuvo Anti-Cheat installation during the trial. Players cannot access the game without installing it and are encouraged to report cheaters normally using the in-game function.

Behaviour Interactive emphasizes this trial tests Denuvo Anti-Cheat only, not the controversial Denuvo DRM software. Steam Deck and Proton compatibility will remain unaffected, and cross-play will continue working despite the trial being exclusive to the Steam version. Following the trial, Denuvo Anti-Cheat will be automatically deactivated and no longer run on player systems. The studio will provide a support page with a step-by-step guide for removing any remaining Denuvo files. The trial duration remains unclear.
