Embark Studios is testing a dedicated co-op/PvE mode for Arc Raiders from October 13-20. The new mode allows players to manually toggle between PvE-only and classic PvPvE gameplay, completely disabling friendly fire. PvE will have separate matchmaking rankings and feature Solos, Duos, and Trios gameplay with all team structures playing together.

Embark will evaluate whether a pure PvE mode has a future after this test, noting it is not a promise of permanent inclusion. Changes include lower value loot for PvE players and slightly higher baseline loot values for PvPvE sessions to compensate for reduced risk. NPC AI has been adjusted to be more aggressive, with Arcs now re-targeting downed players if they start moving while downed.

The test is driven by community feedback and data showing 37% of players prefer co-op gameplay, with over 70% of friendly players and 40% of PvP players wanting fewer hostile encounters. 51% of surveyed players expressed interest in a dedicated PvE option.
