007 First Light Graphics Tech Limitations

007 First Light launched with limited upscaling support, offering AMD FSR 3.1.5 but lacking the newer FSR 4 technology for Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs. While the game supports NVIDIA's DLSS 4.5 for RTX 30-series and later cards, it leaves AMD's latest technology on the table. The demanding title requires substantial GPU power, making upscaling crucial for mid-range hardware.

The game's FSR implementation is "baked directly into the game engine," preventing users from manually swapping files to enable FSR 4.1 support. AMD's FSR 4 represents a significant upgrade over FSR 3.1, featuring a new machine learning algorithm that currently requires RX 9000 series hardware. AMD plans to extend this technology to RX 7000 and RX 6000 series later this year.

The absence of Intel XeSS support further limits options for gamers with Arc GPUs in the mid-performance range. This technical oversight means players on AMD's latest hardware cannot access the best possible image quality in the game, despite paying premium prices for RX 9000 series cards.
