Notepad++ for Mac Trademark Dispute Sparks Developer Backlash

The Notepad++ for Mac release has ignited controversy after its creator, Don Ho, disavowed the unofficial port. Despite claims of being an official release, the app was developed by Andrey Letov without Ho’s consent. Ho denounced the project as misleading, stating it violates the trademark and risks user trust.

Letov initially defended the move, arguing it would "expand the brand," but Ho escalated the conflict by reporting the site to Cloudflare and demanding its removal. The app’s website has since shifted to NextPad++ with a new frog icon, though earlier versions still bear the Notepad++ branding.
