Playoff Race Intensifies
The Bruins edged the Capitals 4-2 in a pivotal matchup, extending their playoff lead to 4 points as Washington slipped to 8th in the standings. Meanwhile, Capitals veteran Alex Ovechkin posted 10 assists in the season finale, a decline from his 12 in the regular season, yet the team secured its 8th-place berth after a 3-2 overtime win against the Islanders.
Off-Ice Disruptions
Boston’s Taylor Hall received a 2-game suspension for his hit on Ovechkin during Friday’s rematch, drawing a $10,000 fine and complicating the series dynamics. Separately, the Penguins-Flyers game was postponed due to arena scheduling conflicts, pushing the rivalry series to April 10 and temporarily stalling both teams’ playoff positioning.
