A second report from Omdia corroborates earlier findings by Counterpoint Research, indicating that Apple achieved its strongest-ever second quarter for iPhone shipments. Despite a general market downturn and a **4% year-over-year decline** in overall smartphone shipments, Apple's iPhone shipments saw a significant increase.

Omdia estimates Samsung led the market with **22%** share, followed closely by Apple with **20%**, up from 16% in the previous year. This marks a record-high market share for Apple in its traditionally slowest quarter. The success is attributed to a strong iPhone 17 series refresh cycle and stable pricing, contrasting with competitors who faced pricing increases.

However, Omdia warns of more significant shipment declines in the upcoming quarters due to the ongoing memory crisis, which is expected to impact seasonal demand peaks. The report highlights the collision of new product launches and holidays with constrained memory chip supply.
