Undrafted rookie quarterback Haynes King scored on the final play to lift the Carolina Panthers to a 33-30 comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame preseason opener on Thursday night.

King, the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year at Georgia Tech last season, completed 21 of 34 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 39 yards and the game-winning score. Panthers coach Dave Canales praised King's resilience, stating, "The guys were resilient and finish is what we preach as a team."

Arizona's Carson Beck made an impressive debut before leaving, and later Kedon Slovis threw a one-yard touchdown to Bryson Green with 1:55 remaining to put the Cardinals ahead 30-27. However, King rallied the Panthers, including a four-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Tyus III in the fourth quarter.

The game also featured Jacoby Brissett and All-Pro tight end Trey McBride visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame Museum, where their jerseys were displayed for record-breaking performances last season. McBride set the NFL record for receptions by a tight end with 126, while Brissett set the record for completions in a game with 47 against San Francisco.
