Tyson Fury's Solo Training Plan for Makhmudov Fight

Tyson Fury has announced he will train himself for his comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, suggesting it could be his final bout. The former heavyweight champion, who lost his WBC title to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, claims he won't work with a boxing trainer for this fight.

Fury, who has a successful history with trainer SugarHill Steward, including victories over Deontay Wilder and Dillian Whyte, told Sky Sports: "I'm a one-man army. I train myself like Clubber Lang." The Gypsy King retired at the start of 2025 but began training camp in Thailand in December. Makhmudov, known for his 90%+ knockout ratio, presents a dangerous challenge for Fury's return.

This unconventional approach marks a significant departure from standard heavyweight preparation, where fighters typically rely heavily on their corner teams. Fury's promoter Frank Warren has expressed surprise at the decision, though Fury remains confident, stating he only needs someone to provide water and Vaseline between rounds. The 36-year-old British boxer has hinted this comeback could be short-lived, potentially retiring again after facing the powerful Russian contender.
