Tony Bloom: Hearts Title Ambition Ahead of Celtic Clash

Brighton chairman Tony Bloom has reiterated that he would be "really disappointed" if Hearts fail to win the Scottish Premiership within a decade. Bloom completed a near £10m investment in the Tynecastle Park club last summer and immediately vowed to "disrupt the pattern of domination of Scottish football".

At their first attempt, Hearts missed out on a first top-flight title since 1960 on the final day of the season, despite topping the table since September. Celtic came from 1-0 down to win 3-1 and leapfrog Hearts in the final minutes of a dramatic campaign. The two sides meet again at Celtic Park on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.

Bloom said the way last season ended was "exceptionally disappointing for the club and for me as well", adding that the club must accept what has happened. He still believes Hearts will become the first non-Old Firm side to win the top-flight title since 1985: "Absolutely. I'd be really disappointed if Hearts have not won the Scottish Premiership within the 10 years."

Hearts lost head coach Derek Mc Innes, captain Lawrence Shankland and midfielder Cammy Devlin to Rangers after the defeat to Celtic. Wouter Vrancken was appointed as head coach, and several new faces arrived. A tough start saw the club lose Champions League and Europa League qualifiers, but Hearts are now third in the top flight, three points behind Rangers and two ahead of Celtic's position in the table, with a place in the League Cup semi-finals.
