Scottie Scheffler said he would welcome a role in choosing the next Team USA Ryder Cup captain if the PGA of America asked. Jim Furyk, the 2003 US Open champion, was named captain for 2027 at Adare Manor, after leading the side in 2018. Furyk now faces the task of turning around back‑to‑back defeats in Rome and New York.

Scheffler added that he has had no input on the selection process; “I have no input at all,” he said. “If they want me to have input, then I can have input.” He noted the Ryder Cup committee includes PGA of America executives and PGA Tour players, including Jordan Spieth, whom he plans to consult later.

Reflecting on Furyk’s record, Scheffler praised his organisational skills and long‑standing experience. “Jim and Tabitha are really great people,” he said. “He’s a really good leader, extremely organised, and has played and captained for three decades, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the table.” Scheffler believes Furyk can steer the squad back to victory.

Scheffler, who missed the Masters and RBC Heritage, now targets the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral. With McIlroy and Fitzpatrick skipping, he is the favourite to win. He plans a week off before the PGA Championship and eyes a career Grand Slam at the 2025 US Open at Shinnecock Hills.
