Rice Fit for England‑Argentina Semi‑Final

Declan Rice is fit and available to start England's World Cup semi‑final against Argentina on Wednesday, Sky Sports News understands. Thomas Tuchel's injury, illness and fatigue problems across the squad have eased considerably since the gruelling win over Norway three days ago.

Rice had a stomach problem after the last‑16 game in Mexico City 10 days ago, which left him confined to bed for three days before the quarter‑final against Norway. He could only play 45 minutes in Miami, where heat and humidity were like 44C, but he has now fully recovered.

He trained fully on Monday in Kansas City – the first full session after the Norway win, which was behind closed doors – and there are no remaining doubts he will start against the reigning world champions. Tuchel will have a near‑full squad to select from, with the exception of the suspended Jarrel Quansah and Jordan Henderson, who has a broken wrist.

Another key player, Nico O’Reilly, is also fit despite a hamstring strain picked up against Norway. England are just one win away from their first World Cup final in 60 years, and Tuchel has one training session left to lock tactics and lineup ahead of Lionel Messi and Argentina.
