Raducanu rehires Richardson after rocky coaching search

Emma Raducanu has reunited with Andrew Richardson after a string of short-term coaching stints left her without a permanent coach for months. Richardson guided her to the US Open title five years ago, but she parted ways with him post-triumph, bringing in Torben Beltz for WTA experience before cycling through further appointments, including Francisco Roig, whom she dropped in January.

The 23-year-old trained with Richardson at the Ferrer Tennis Academy in Spain and framed the decision as deeply personal. She told Sky Sports she was being pulled in different directions during the coaching chaos and only now values trust and connection over track records. She also reconnected with childhood coaches Nick Cavaday, Mark Petchey, and Jane O'Donoghue.

Raducanu opens her French Open campaign against Argentina's Solana Sierra on Sunday. She stressed the rehiring came from her own initiative and that she is not swayed by outside judgment, calling Richardson solid and consistent in his belief in her game.
