Pollock vows to earn Lions Test cap after Australia snub

England centre Henry Pollock says the sting of missing a Test for the British and Irish Lions fuels his ambition. Selected in Andy Farrell’s 38‑man squad in May, Pollock arrived in Australia fresh from his senior England debut but never earned a Test jersey as the Lions sealed a 2‑1 series win over the Wallabies.

Pollock featured in tour matches against Western Force and ACT Brumbies, impressing coaches but failing to displace the established midfield. He described the experience as “amazing” and a chance to learn from senior internationals, yet admitted the omission left a “little bit of hurt.” The young centre now eyes New Zealand 2029, hoping to finally start a Test.

Pollock told Sky Sports the snub “was gutting,” but he stayed focused on squad duties, helping the group train and finish the series victorious. He believes Farrell chose him for the tour with the intention of playing him, adding that the disappointment will drive his performances at club level. He knows the competition remains fierce. Pollock aims to convert that drive into a Test cap on the next Lions tour.
