Phil Mickelson Misses Masters Due to Family Health Matter

Six-time major champion Phil Mickelson will not compete in next week's Masters tournament, citing an ongoing family health matter. The 55-year-old three-time Masters winner announced the news on social media Thursday, marking his absence from the prestigious event for the first time since 2019. Mickelson has won the green jacket in 2004, 2006, and 2010.

This decision comes after Mickelson already missed the first four LIV Golf events of the year, stating he would remain "out for an extended period." The veteran golfer had recently returned to competition at LIV Golf South Africa in March, finishing tied for 48th place. His absence creates a significant gap in the field, as only seven other players have won the Masters three times.

Mickelson expressed his respect for Augusta National Golf Club, calling it "the most special week of the year." He finished tied for second when Jon Rahm won the Masters in 2023. This year would have marked his 33rd start at Augusta National, where he has made 28 cuts throughout his career.
