Norwich finally got their Championship campaign up and running after a sluggish start as they recorded an emphatic 4-1 home win over struggling Burnley. The Canaries never looked back after scoring twice in the opening five minutes, with two goals apiece from Mo Toure and new boy Andre Brooks guiding them to a welcome win, after being beaten in their opening two league games.

It was another disappointing afternoon for Burnley, however, summed up late on when Josh Laurent, who had scored their consolation goal, was dismissed for a second bookable offence. The Clarets have taken just one point from their first three fixtures under new boss Nicky Hayen - and remain without a league victory since winning at Crystal Palace in the Premier League back in February.

Norwich took advantage of some woeful defending to swiftly move two up at a soggy Carrow Road. With less than 90 seconds on the clock, Anel Ahmedhodzic somehow contrived to miss a routine ball forward from Jose Cordoba, allowing Toure to run through and finish emphatically. The Canaries doubled their advantage in their next attack, with Kenny Mc Lean's clever pass giving an unmarked Anthony Musaba the chance to deliver a low cross for Brooks to convert.

It got even worse for the Clarets on 21 minutes as Norwich made it 3-0. This time the visitors were unable to deal with an Oscar Schwartau corner from the right, with the ball dropping kindly for Toure to grab his second of the afternoon from close range. Burnley looked shell-shocked, having twice gone close to pulling one back through first Zian Flemming and then Aaron Ramsey. But they did manage to get the goal their attacking play merited on 27 minutes when Kyle Walker slipped the ball inside for Laurent to fire home off a post from just outside the box.

The Clarets came desperately close to pulling another one back three minutes after the interval, with Jacob Bruun Larsen's piledriver coming back off the upright. The visitors were still very much in the game at that stage but they failed to make their territorial dominance count and were made to pay when the Canaries made it 4-1 on 67 minutes. Some excellent approach play was rewarded as substitute Papa Diallo spread the ball wide to Jack Stacey, who crossed for Brooks to double his tally for the day and end any hope of a comeback. Burnley suffered more misery in 77th minute when they were reduced to 10 men as Laurent was shown a second yellow for hauling back Anis Ben Slimane as the Norwich substitute attempted to break forward.
