Newcastle Demand £80m+ for Guimaraes Amid Arsenal Interest

Newcastle are frustrated with Arsenal's pursuit of captain Bruno Guimaraes and will demand upwards of £80m for the Brazil international, according to Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie. Guimaraes has told the club he wants to join Arsenal this summer, but the Gunners have not contacted Newcastle directly.

Instead, Arsenal have explored deal conditions through intermediaries, leaving Newcastle frustrated as they try to gauge genuine interest. Downie expects the saga to continue but insists Newcastle are determined to keep their captain, valuing him at over £80m — only £20m less than Sandro Tonali, sold to Spurs for £100m earlier this month.

Newcastle have had a busy summer, selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £69.3m and spending a combined £83.5m on new signings. Arsenal are yet to complete major signings. Downie says the tipping point for Newcastle "has to start with an eight" and that Arsenal must make a concrete offer, not via middle-men, for Newcastle to take interest seriously.

Guimaraes, who featured for Brazil at the World Cup, has made 195 appearances and scored 31 goals since joining for £40m in 2022. His leadership, experience, and complete midfield profile make him an attractive target for Arsenal as they aim to turn last season's title success into dominance.
