Neville destroys Chelsea owners over Rosenior sacking

Gary Neville has launched a scathing attack on Chelsea's owners, insisting they "don't have a clue what they're doing" after the club sacked Liam Rosenior on Wednesday - their fifth managerial dismissal in under four years since BlueCo's takeover. Rosenior was appointed in January with a six-year contract but paid the price for a catastrophic run of seven defeats in his last eight matches, including five straight Premier League losses without scoring - the club's worst goalless losing run since 1912.

The writing was on the wall after Chelsea fans chanted for Rosenior's dismissal during and after the 3-0 defeat at Brighton on Tuesday. Neville put the responsibility firmly on the owners rather than the head coach, telling Sky Sports: "Their fans will be absolutely disgusted by the way this has gone." He also criticized the six-year deal handed to Rosenior, calling such long contracts "almost laughable from the start."

Chelsea now sit seventh in the Premier League, seven points off fifth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand. Under BlueCo, the average managerial reign has been just 258 days - less than half of what previous owner Roman Abramovich managed. Calum McFarlane will take over as interim until the season's end, though the club has yet to begin the process of appointing a permanent successor.
